Letter from Our Founder on COVID 19

Nurturing Expressions is taking extra precautions to keep you healthy and safe during the Coronavirus pandemic and Washington Stay Home order|

Dear Nurturing Expressions Families,

Governor Inslee’s COVID 19 Stay Home, Stay Healthy order and its extension through May 4 has left some feeling afraid and isolated.  As the owner and founder of Nurturing Expressions and as a 30-year Registered Nurse, I assure you that Nurturing Expression is, and will be, here for you.

As a Registered Nurse, I have been on the front lines in many major health crises. With regard to this one, the best thing you can do to protect yourself and your families is to remain calm and follow the CDC’s health and safety recommendations. Remember to wash your hands frequently, not touch your face, practice physical distancing and maintain contact—by phone or email—with friends and family who are sheltered at other locations.

Nurturing Expressions is taking extra precautions to keep you healthy and safe during the Coronavirus pandemic and Washington Stay Home order

If you are coming to one of our Nurturing Expressions locations, please know that we disinfect and clean before and after each client, and use gloves and masks for all one-on-one consultations.

Life will go on. This is temporary. Babies are being born daily and parents will continue to need support to care for their little ones. I am committed to providing priority care to each Nurturing Expressions client.

How Nurturing Expressions Is Adapting

In order to continue to care for all our families, Nurturing Expressions has made the following changes:

Groups & Classes

We will not hold in-person groups or classes until we are officially notified it is safe to do so again. We are offering some virtual and online solutions in the meantime:

We are offering Live Facebook, AMA-style (ask me anything) sessions on pumping and breastfeeding. Our first Live: First Breastfeeding & Pumping Q&A took place on Monday, April 6 at 11AM PST. Follow us on Facebook to make sure you get the most updated announcements for new events. Send us your questions via email, comment on our page, or send us a message on Facebook.

We’re hoping to give you the ability to sign up for virtual support groups and classes by mid-April. If you’re in Kitsap county, don’t forget you can also join our Kitsap Nurturing Expressions Facebook group both for social and breastfeeding/chestfeeding or pumping support.

Weight Checks & Weighted Feeds

Parents wanting weight checks and weighted feed appointments for their babies are asked to please call ahead to schedule your free appointment (206-763-2733 ext. 4 for Seattle, 6 for Poulsbo, 7 for Tacoma)

Pumping & Lactation Consultations

To meet your needs and to serve you in a timely manner, we have added an additional one-on-one pumping and lactation consultant at the West Seattle and Poulsbo locations. You can also now request either a Pumping Consultation or Lactation Consultation online.

Shopping & Breast Pumps

We are beginning to offer virtual video shopping with a personal shopper for pickup at the boutique closest to you or to ship directly to you.

We also have some hybrid shopping and breast pump selection options for you:

  1. Browse the breast pumps we carry right here on our website.
  2. Make a virtual shopper appointment to be walked through the store and ask questions (we’ll announce how soon).
  3. Schedule a Pumping Consultation (in-person or virtual).
  4. Place a phone order for curbside pickup or direct shipment to your home.
  5. We are working to add more information on the other products, supplements, and supplies we carry in our boutiques to our website, as well.

We, at Nurturing Expressions, remain dedicated to providing your family with consistent quality care. You can rest assured that we will be here to support you during these challenging times.

Please remember that this virus has come to pass—it has not come to stay. Continue to protect yourself while focusing on the love and joy your little ones bring to you and your family daily.

Be Well,

Tracy Corey, RN, IBCLC
